JOB TITLE: ATHLETIC THERAPIST

REPORTS TO: GENERAL MANAGER & HEAD COACH

The Paris Titans Hockey Franchise have announced the opportunity for an Athletic

Therapist looking to fill a permanent position starting in August 2024. The Athletic Therapist

will report to the General Manager and Head Coach, while working closely with the Head

Trainer. The Athletic Therapist will assist in developing premier athletes both on and off the

ice as they are committed to excellence as a member of the Provincial Junior Hockey

League. Extensive interaction with coaches, staff, players, and other rink employees is

required of this position, with expected responsibilities to be taken care of at all practices

and games. This role will be based out of Paris, ON, home of the Titans.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support student-athletes in development on and off the ice.

• Responsible for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries

and illness suffered by athletes of the Titans Hockey Franchise.

• Responsible for updating and communicating with the General Manager and

Coaching Staff regarding player injuries, conditions, and recovery.

• Provide first aid and emergency care services to athletes.

• Design rehabilitation programs for athletes, assist and monitor injured players as

they heal and progress towards recovery.

• Refer athletes to team doctors or any other medical staff members.

• Assist with the coordination and arrangement of player appointments with doctors,

dentists, and other medical professionals.

• Maintain records related to athletes condition, training, and treatment plans.• Responsible for filing and processing insurance documents.

• Handle inventory ordering, maintenance, and restocking of supplies.

• Assist with game day preparation.

• Represent the Titans Hockey Franchise at various community and team functions.

• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills needed to develop and maintain

positive, respectful relationships with all members of the Titans Hockey Franchise.

• Must possess valid driver’s license and the ability to travel withing province.

• The successful applicant must complete a full background check.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

• Ability to maintain effective relationships with strong interpersonal and

communication skills with management, league officials, facility representatives,

fellow employees and the general public.

• Familiarity with all standard athletic training equipment.

• Detail oriented.

• Analyze and solve problems independently.

• Work in high intensity, competitive, and deadline driven environments.

• Understand, adhere, and enforce safety procedures.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, etc.).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Level 1 OHA Trainer Certification or Hockey Trainers Ontario Level 1 Certification.

• Standard First Aid & CPR/AED-C Training.

• Vulnerable Sector Screening.

• Criminal Screening Declaration.

• Respect in Sport Training (Must be completed prior to season).

• Gender Identity and Expression Training (Must be completed prior to season).

• Ability to keep, maintain, and prepare effective and accurate records.
